Seascape Capital Management principals are investment professionals with over 30 years of combined portfolio management experience. They are supported by a talented, dedicated professional staff with a passion for attention to detail.

 

Monica (Ness) McCarthy, CFA®, CDFA™

Monica McCarthy (formerly Monica Ness), CFA®, CDFA™, is President and Chief Investment Officer with comprehensive experience in investments, research and portfolio management, as well as in business management, legal, and compliance issues. Prior to joining Seascape in 2005 as Senior Portfolio Manager and Chief Compliance Officer, she created and managed two Boston-based wealth management firms that delivered comprehensive services in a family-office environment.  Most recently she served as Chief Investment Officer for the investment advisory arm of Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP, a major Boston law firm.  There, she led a team of analysts in investment strategy, process, and research.

Monica’s past analytical work includes the development of a proprietary quantitative stock ranking system. She was awarded a CFA® Charter in 1993, a MBA with a concentration in Taxation from the University of South Carolina and a BA from the University of Virginia in economics.  Most recently, she earned her Certified Divorce Financial Analyst®.

Kate Caswell

Kate Caswell joined Seascape Capital Management in 2005 as Investment Systems Administrator. Her primary responsibility is the maintenance of client relationship and investment management systems used by Seascape on a daily basis. Kate also interacts with both custodians and clients to ensure the integrity of incoming data as well as customer satisfaction. She is key to maintaining the tools that allow the principals of the firm to focus on doing the best job they can for Seascape’s clients. Kate joined Seascape from Citizens Bank, where she spent seven years progressing through a variety of operational positions. Her responsibilities included daily account reconciliation, training staff, performing account in-line transfers, and a multitude of independent projects.

Kate is a devoted reader and, since joining the firm, has developed quite a talent for graphics software, database management, and web design.

Suzanne Johnson

Suzanne Johnson joined Seascape Capital Management in June 2011 as Investment Services Manager.  Suzanne ensures that our clients have a positive experience with both our firm and custodians.  From account opening to account service requests, she acts as a liaison to fulfill and exceed client expectations.  In addition to her client service role, Suzanne acts as office manager, responsible for the bookkeeping and human resource functions for the firm.  She joins us from another local advisory firm, where she performed in a similar capacity as client account manager and office manager for almost six years.

Suzanne's diverse administrative experience was gained in executive support and project management roles in both start-up and established companies ranging from telecommunications, commercial loan underwriting, and defense industries.

Andrew Litzerman, CFA®

Andrew Litzerman, CFA®, joined Seascape Capital Management in July 2015 as a Portfolio Manager. He is responsible for assisting the Senior Portfolio Manager with trading, investment research, and portfolio administration. Prior to joining the Seascape team, Andrew served as an Investment Associate at Citi Private Bank from 2009 to 2014. There he worked with Ultra High Net Worth clients researching investment ideas and building customized client portfolios.

Andrew graduated from Northeastern University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. He was awarded a CFA® Charter in 2013 and is a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society.  Andrew lives in Boston with his adorable beagle Chloe.

Josh Scandlen, CFP®

Josh Scandlen joined Seascape Capital in June 2017 as Senior Wealth Manager.  Josh is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER Practitioner and holds a Master of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning.

Josh has provided financial advice to clients since 1998. Over those two decades he has developed extensive knowledge of investment management, Social Security, tax, retirement planning and wealth transfer strategies.

He has learned that successful financial planning does not need to be complex. In fact, he has found that complexity can be the enemy of successful financial planning.

After serving tours as an infantryman in the US Army's 10th Mountain Division and then in the Virginia National Guard, Josh used the GI Bill to earn his degree in Economics from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. He was awarded a number of financial scholarships as well as the Wall Street Journal Award for Academic Excellence and named Economics Student of the Year in 1997.  He was an instructor for the Virginia Commonwealth University CFP certification program in 2006 and was named as one of "America's Top Financial Planners" by the Consumers Research Council of America for 2008 and 2010. Josh also served as a Commissioner for the Dayton, VA Planning Commission 2007-2008.

Josh greatly values spending time with his wife and four children. He has served for many years as a volunteer coach in his children's sports activities. His family is also very active in their church and neighborhood community.  Being raised on a small island in Casco Bay, Maine, Josh is a passionate fan of college and professional hockey and tries to catch a Boston Bruins game at least once a year with his family.

Bianca Kowal

Bianca joined Seascape in July 2017 as Client Relations & Business Development Manager. Bianca is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with Seascape's current and future clients, while also spearheading the firm's marketing, public relations and business development efforts.

Prior to joining Seascape, Bianca served as a Due Diligence Analyst for Foreside Financial Group in Portland, Maine where she reviewed privately placed investment products and investment adviser compliance programs. Prior to that, Bianca worked in Boston for Eaton Vance Investment Management as an Internal Wholesaler and for a Boston based finacial adviser as a Client Relationship Manager. Bianca has over 6 years of investment experience working across all areas of the industry.

Bianca holds a Master of Business Administration from Saint Joseph's College of Maine and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. Bianca is a native Mainer and resides in Old Orchard Beach, Maine with her husband and son.
