Advanced Age Seminar

Advanced Age Seminar

by Bianca Kowal on May 2, 2019

On May 1st we hosted a seminar on aging and had a wonderful guest speaker, Nancy Euchner. Nancy guided the audience through a systematic way of making a plan for the last third of their life.

For the past 20 years, Nancy and her colleagues at AgeQuest have helped hundreds of people whose lives have been changed by the “bumps in the road” of aging.  In the past five years, she has noticed an increase in the number of people who are coming to her for planning – wanting to understand what might lie ahead for them and make connections before they are needed.  This kind of planning is difficult.  The health and long-term care systems are in flux, as are our social support networks.  It has become more and more evident that we need to take charge of what comes next.

By profession, Nancy is a nurse and an eldercare strategist.  She has worked in most of the types of settings that we’re likely to encounter later in life – from home care and hospice to hospitals and nursing homes.  As she joins the official ranks of “old people” – boomers and beyond – she provides community leadership in the field of vital aging.

In addition to her consulting practice at AgeQuest, Nancy leads a group of dedicated volunteers in an effort to launch the Seacoast Village Project – a new model for aging in community.
